1- Não se pode desde imediato tirar uma conclusão óbvia. Mas a partir de certas interpretações, que vou referir mais adiante, na minha opinião T. S. Eliot não acha convincente as traduções de Baudelaire. Em contextualização, Poe detinha uma certa particularidade na sua escrita. Por vezes, escrevia palavras porque soavam bem, mas não faziam sentido no contexto. Isto resulta em imperfeições peliculares na escrita de Poe, o autor T. S. Eliot no texto até dá o exemplo da palavra "immemorial" (pag.52) e, explica o sentido e o contexto. Em relação ao Baudelaire, que traduziu os textos para o inglês, T. S. Eliot suspeitava que ele não falasse muito bem inglês, a meu ver de um certo modo isto poderá ser ambíguo para a realização de uma tradução. Baudelaire, como é citado no texto, "transformed what is often a slipshod and a shoddy English prose into admirable French". Por um lado, isto significa que na tradução de Baudelaire é omitido um traço típico da escrita de Poe, os leitores franceses não terão a mesma visibilidade que os leitores da língua inglesa. Baudelaire está mais concentrado na personalidade do autor, do que na sua estrutura. Tudo isto vai contra o que T. S. Eliot afirma: "The subject is little, the treatment is everthing", em que na minha opinião o ponto fulcral de Baudelaire foi transmitir o "subject", desconsiderando algumas caraterísticas de Poe. De um certo modo os dois autores tinham um objetivo diferente, Baudelaire traduz de um modo que se identifica, o protótipo referido por T. S. Eliot de "Le poèt maudit".

When reading this poem, I felt calm but blue, even though when reading the sentences with slight happiness. At the beginning of this poem, firstly, the author shows the peaceful feeling of starting to become a god believer. Then, he demonstrates the mental and psychological conflict , which is directly in the sentence 'After the dark dove with the flickering tongue, had passed below the horizon of his homing, while the dead leaves still rattled on like tin', representing the salvation from the god.
Air, mud, water and fire, which are the four most important elements in the poem: so implicit and gentle, which even reminds me of eastern philosophy. Among them, fire is the most convincing symbol of war and human desire, also the symbol of ruin and rebirth. When reading these, I felt a sacred and pure power.
Imagism is the key word of this poem. The author transfers the trip to the little Gidding as a trip of pilgrimage, which can take place both on ruins and among flowers.

ResponderEliminarEliot no Little Gidding focaliza-se no pensamento cristão, este, desde o inicio narra a expansão de peregrinação da igreja de peregrinação e esforça-se para o cruzamento da estrada e frente com Deus. Na minha opinião, o poema também fala do fogo, e basicamente é um poema pentecostal, pelo que assumo ser um poema com um espirito melancólico, triste, porque Eliot, conta da segunda guerra mundial, quando Londres foi bombardeado , ele servindo como chefe dos bombeiros que retrata dos horrores do fogo da guerra.
Portanto, apesar de Little Gidding ser um poema de estilo cristã, os cristãos modernos podem achar que é difícil a compreensão do seu trabalho. O seu estilo é obscura e tortuosa, mas literalmente capaz de orientar o leitor para o reino do silêncio e da contemplação.
